We've just learned that Robert Lynn Asprin passed away in his home in New Orleans on Thursday. Best known these days for his MythAdventures series of comedic fantasy novels, Bob pioneered the "shared world anthology" genre with his entertaining and innovative Thieves' World series for Ace Books back in the 1980s. All the shared world series that followed -- such as Liavek, edited by Emma Bull & Will Shetterly, Wild Cards, edited by George R.R. Martin, and, of course, my own Borderland, owe a serious debt to Bob.
He will be missed.
No more Aspirin? Nooooooo....
