This week's Monday Video, from the French singer and composer Émilie Simon, is for all the doll artists and doll art fans among our readers. I hope you enjoy this unusual little piece.
Simon, who is from Montpellier, studied ancient music at the Sorbonne and electronic music at the Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique. She has released several CDs, including Végétal, The Flower Book, À l'Olympia, and The March of the Empress. For more information, visit her website and MySpace page.
Sacre Bleu! I've heard of some individuals referred to as "a living doll," but...I guess you could say she has a certain je ne sais quois...

How wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing...and yes, as a doll artist, I found it particularly delightful.

That was so interesting. I love music videos, they have the potential of being so inventive and creative. At first it reminded me of the scene in A Nightmare Before Christmas when Sally was sewing her arm back on. After that it got deliciously creepy/slightly disturbing and yet remained quite fun. Thanks again for another great Monday video.

It is a very nice video. I am a fan of Emilie Simon's work.
I also want to point out that it is " March of the Empress", but "La Marche de l'Empereur" (masculine). which is actually the music for the penguin documentary of the same name. The English version of the movie "March of the Penguins" used another soundtrack.
She is an incredibly talented young musician.
Thank you for pointing out her work here. Her album Végétal is also notable for all its references to the land and to flowers (some that come even come to life). She paints beautiful images with her words and sounds.
